Monitoring the Implementation of Tracer Study

Monitoring the Implementation of Tracer Study

Penjamu FT UNY - On Monday, July 3, 2023, the Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (FT UNY) held a monitoring activity for the implementation of the Tracer Study. This activity was carried out online through the Zoom platform in the KPLT Conference Room 2nd Floor. 50 participants from various backgrounds were involved in the event.

Purpose of Tracer Study and Monitoring of Implementation

Ardi Ariyanto, M.Pd., opened the event by explaining that 80% of FT UNY graduates have entered the workforce. Ideally, graduates are expected to get a salary of at least 1.2 times the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP). To ensure compatibility with the industrial world, FT UNY collaborates with companies and organizes assistance with the Tracer Study Center. Tracer Study data filling involves email account information and social media as an effort to improve the connection between FT UNY and its graduates.

Efforts to Increase Participation in Tracer Study

Dani Hendra Kristiawan, S.Pd.T., explained the various efforts that have been made to increase participation in the Tracer Study. One of them is through socialization of study programs and sending emails. Although the response rate is still low, FT UNY has tried to send reminders via email and WhatsApp messages. He also conveyed plans for cooperation with large companies such as Astra and an evaluation planned for December.

Challenges and Suggestions for Tracer Study

Some notes and suggestions were delivered by the participants. Dr. Ir. Darmono, M.T., raised a question about sending data via WhatsApp and expressed the need to collect graduates' WhatsApp numbers through the Head of Department or Study Program Coordinator. Dr. Handaru Jati, ST., M.M., M.T., Ph.D., highlighted the importance of complete and simple data, proposed a Single Sign-On (SSO) login to facilitate filling, and said that too long an instrument may hinder participation.

Monitoring Pelaksanaan Tracer Study

Rustam Asnawi, ST, M.T., Ph.D., emphasized that the Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLOs) must also be included in the Tracer Study system. Some obstacles and challenges still occur, such as blank data and changes in graduates' social media accounts. However, the commitment to continue to improve the implementation of Tracer Study remains a focus in FT UNY's efforts to obtain accurate and useful data.
