Comparative Study Visit of Quality Assurance Unit of State University of Malang
Penjamu FT UNY - The Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (UNY) received a comparative study visit from the Quality Assurance Unit of the State University of Malang (UMM) on July 27, 2023. This activity took place in the KPLT Conference Room, 2nd Floor, Faculty of Engineering UNY from 13.00 WIB to 15.00 WIB. The purpose of this visit was to exchange experiences and knowledge related to quality assurance management at both universities.
This visit was held at the initiative of the Quality Assurance Unit of the Faculty of Engineering UNY. In this meeting, Dr. Ir. Ummi Rohajatien, M.P. from the Quality Assurance Unit of State University of Malang, together with Dr. Umi Rochayati, M.T. from the Quality Assurance Unit of the Faculty of Engineering UNY, gave presentations related to quality assurance management at both universities.
Some of the key points discussed in this meeting include:
- UPM Organizational Structure: Dr. Umi Rochayati, M.T., explained the organizational structure of the Quality Assurance Unit of the Faculty of Engineering UNY in 2023. She explained that UPM FT is supported by various divisions such as the Quality Development Division in charge of overseeing accreditation activities, and the Audit and Monitoring Division that oversees work such as e-Monitoring, Internal Quality Audit (AMI), and surveys. In addition, UPM FT also organized a task force team to develop Effective Document Steps (LED).
- Organizational Structure of UPM at State University of Malang: Dr. R. Machmud Sugandi, M.T., from the University Quality Assurance Unit team of State University of Malang, asked about the organizational structure of UPM at UNY, whether it is under the university or faculty. Dr. Umi Rochayati replied that the Directorate of Quality Assurance is in one line of command of the university, while activities related to the Faculty, under the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs.
- Instrument Development: Dr. R. Machmud Sugandi also asked about the development of quality assurance instruments, whether the instruments are made by the Faculty or the center. Dr. Umi Rochayati replied that the development of the instrument came from the Directorate, but when developing the Quality Assurance Unit, the Faculty was also involved in developing the instrument.
This comparative study visit is a valuable platform to exchange information and experiences between two institutions that care about improving the quality of education. By sharing best practices, both universities hope to continuously improve the effectiveness of their quality assurance systems to support better education.
