Penjamu FT UNY -

The Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (FT UNY) held a Tracer Study Report Preparation activity on Thursday, September 7, 2023. This event was held online through the KPLT 2nd Floor Conference Room and was attended by 17 participants who were actively involved.

The Urgency of Tracer Study for Curriculum Development and ReAccreditation

Dr. Umi Rochayati, M.T., as the Head of the Quality Assurance Unit, opened the activity by emphasizing the urgency of Tracer Study in preparing the curriculum and reAccreditation preparation. She illustrated that Tracer Study data, especially from TS-2 to TS-4, is very important to get accreditation scores. Furthermore, he conveyed that the reaccreditation of pure S1 is planned in 2025 based on suggestions from related parties.

Presentation of Tracer Study Data and Analysis by Yuniar Indrihapsari, M.Eng

Yuniar Indrihapsari, M.Eng, presented data and analysis of the Tracer Study results. The average income of graduates of D4 Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Boga Engineering is around 6.2 million. However, there are some obstacles, such as not all alumni filling out the instrument, which causes bias in the data.

Some key findings from his presentation:

  • On average, 36% of alumni feel that their job is suitable.
  • There is no correlation between GPA and the job chosen by alumni.
  • The waiting time of graduates is divided into two clusters, with a waiting period of more than 1 year for certain clusters.

Recommendations and Follow-up Steps

Based on the results of the presentation, a discussion session was held by Bonita Destiana, M.Pd., Munir, M.Pd., and Yosep Efendi, M.Pd. Some recommendations and follow-up steps proposed include:

  • Include a salary range of at least 1.2 UMR in the Tracer Study instrument.
  • Determine the range of waiting time for graduates.
  • Make a written letter that requires alumni to fill out the Tracer Study.
  • Involve the career center in providing information about "take home pay" rather than mentioning salary.

All participants agreed to further improve communication with alumni and optimize the use of Tracer Study to improve the quality of education at the Faculty of Engineering UNY. This activity is expected to provide a positive contribution in formulating future strategic steps.
